 Howdy Darlin’!

My name is Aja

(pronounced like Asia),

a North Carolina-based wedding and engagement photographer.

My goal is to create images that portray what your special moments felt like in person, with an artistic touch. My photography style is a blend of documentary real-life moments showing genuine emotion, mixed with artistic, editorial-style images to portray the aesthetic of the day. With the two of these combined you will end up with a

gallery that tells the entire story of your wedding day in an intentional and honest way. My editing style is film inspired and true to life with a bit of cinematic tones mixed. I’m a firm believer that editing should only be used to enhance the beauty of moments, not to change what they looked like completely.

My philosophy for a wedding day:

“It’s all part of it.”

— Quote by John Dolan

My approach to documenting your wedding day starts long before I arrive at your venue. I prioritize making genuine connections with my clients as we go through the wedding planning experience together. This relationship helps to not only tell your story in a unique-to-you way but also helps you feel grounded throughout your wedding day. I’m not saying we need to be besties, but I do want each client to feel heard + seen every step of the way.

To show up fully focused and present for each client, I put an emphasis on my mental + physical health {almost} every day -

(No one is perfect, okay?!)

This way, when I show up to any touch point throughout your planning process, you can feel at ease knowing I am bringing my A-game, every single time.

When I’m not busy storytelling with light I enjoy spending my time cooking with my husband, working outside in our garden, or loving on our 4 Dogs, 1 Cat and 13 chickens. If it’s an outdoor activity or includes some sort of food, you can count me in. Bonus points if it’s both at the same time.

I grew up in a family obsessed with memories:

- A grandpa with a video camera on his shoulder at every gathering
- Framed family recipes and hand built hope chests
- A dad who recorded his dad’s tall tales to save his voice for future generations
- Gifts of pillows made out of old sweatshirts
- A grandma who saved every scrap of art her grandkids created

Still to this day, when I visit my hometown, there’s always a photo album getting pulled out or a home video being popped into the VCR (yes, they still have those) so we can feel that liquid gold feeling of “the good ol’ days” flow over us.
